[/blockquote][/blockquote]To Be Your Own Best Friend...APPERANCE: Riley is about five foot four inches and is rather lanky, weighing in at only about one-hundred and ten to a hundred and thirteen pounds. Though she is lean, she isn't scrawny. Her abdomen and arms are toned, as well as her legs. Helping out on her parent's ranch required a lot of manual labor, you see, since they didn't own a lot of the more modern farming equipment. Even though she spent a lot of time outside helping out, she never really got a dark tan. Her skin is light and slightly pinkish, with a natural blush on her cheeks. her complexion is quite clear, with only a few freckles dotting her arms and back. Plus, luckily for her, the wave of hormones that usually brings acne seemed to pass right over her, so she has no acne scarring.
She has pale-blue hair, dyed from its normal mousy-brown color. She wanted to stand out a bit from the crowd, and though it took a lot of begging, her parents let her dye her hair with permanent hair dye. It can only be removed if she washes her hair with a color removing agent or by bleaching it. She wears her hair in spiky pigtails that reach down to her shoulders. Her eyes are a dark blue, going along well with her hair color. As for her attire, she usually wears the signature outfit of a breeder; A plain white t-shirt and jeans with the bottoms rolled up, red sneakers, and a pinkish red apron and head-bandanna, both accented with a white pokeball symbol. She has another similar outfit in her tan bag, and a third outfit consisting of; A white tank-top with an olive green summer jacket, dark khaki capri pants and brown sandals. Along with that, she also has a Mareep-wool coat and a pair of boots, for cold weather. She usually wears her breeder outfit, though.
PERSONALITY: To put it simply, Riley is a tomboy. Why do you think she likes going by 'Riley' more than she does 'Lydia', or even 'Ly'? This is because she was made to help out and do manual labor around the ranch, being the only child. She loves doing 'boy-type' activities, like climbing trees and fighting and the like. She doesn't care if her clothes get dirty or if she gets scratched, since she's used to it. At the same time, though, she has a slight girly side. She loves cute things, and she doesn't mind dressing up and looking nice.Only on rare occasions, though.
She is a fun person to be around, a lover of adventure and action. She is rather impulsive, though, and this leads to her hurting herself or others a lot of the time. She loves to mess with people, too, and this can lead to her accidentally hurting people's feelings or making them angry with her. She doesn't try to, though, and she really is kind at heart. She loves meeting new people, and can be so excited to make a new friend that she can come off as a bit.. odd. She is talkative and likes to speak her mind about.. everything, really.
She is rather charismatic, though, and good at making friends. She doesn't have many, though, since she comes from a small town. She is loyal to her friends, and will do just about anything for them. She can be a bit too trusting, though. if you treat her well, she'll like you, but if a friend is disloyal, it can devastate her. As for her feelings toward Pokemon, she loves them. Why else would she have become a breeder? Duh.

She was born to a rancher and his wife, well-known in Hoenn for their well-bred Pokemon and Pokemon products, such as Mareep wool and Miltank milk. Her father was raised on the ranch by his own parents, and her mother was a Pokemon breeder, who was in charge of taking care of the Pokemon on the ranch. She traveled to this region many years ago and fell in love with Riley's father. Thus, they were married, and a couple years later, she was born. Though they were expecting a boy, since he could help out on the ranch, they were still happy when their daughter was born.
Riley was a strong child, walking and talking as soon as possible. She loved wandering around the ranch when she was very little, and would often spend a lot of time in the pastures where the Miltank grazed. She loved every Pokemon on the ranch, and grew close to a newborn Tauros calf that she nicknamed 'Thump', since it had trouble walking for a good while after birth. She and Thump grew up together, and her parents used to joke that he was her sibling, since they spent so much time together. Once the calf was big enough, she began to ride around the ranch on his back. She would even sometimes be caught sleeping in the barn with him, curled up against his side. Her parents would half her basically extract her from her tight grip on his fur before they could bring her back to her own bed.
As she got older, her father began to teach her skills she needed to work on the ranch. She learned how to ride a Ponyta and use a lasso. She still preferred riding Thump, though, who was lithe for a Tauros and could jump just as high as any Ponyta on the ranch. She began to help out more, milking the Milktanks and shearing the Mareep. Her parents gave her the job of transporting the goods from the ranch, located a few miles from Fallarbor town, to the town. She rode in a cart pulled by Tauros, with the things that were going to be sold in bins in the back. Her parents paid her for her work, and she used the money she earned to buy things like books and ingredients.
She began to show a knack for cooking at a young age, both with human food and Pokemon food. Her parents were very impressed with the way she mad specific foods for each type of Pokemon, that brought out the best in them. The quality of Pokemon goods they sold increased after the Pokemon ate Riley's handmade food. Soon, it was the only thing they fed the Pokemon. It was hard work making food for all of the Pokemon, but Riley didn't mind. she loved cooking. She even saved up her money to buy a bookcase for her room, which she filled with Pokemon books and cookbooks.
Riley was often mistaken for a boy while growing up. She kept her hair cut short and wore things like tennis shoes, shorts, collared shirts and overalls. Her parents would constantly have to correct people when they asked about their 'son'. Riley didn't really mind, though. She was just being herself, and if herself was how a boy acted, then sure, she could deal with being a boy. It was only until she reached the age of twelve that she began to get more girly. She let her hair grow out and began to act more girly, if only a slight bit. She started collecting stuffed animals and the like, and would wear an apron and head-bandanna while cooking. Soon, she adopted this as a 'look', and would rarely be seen without either on.
On her thirteenth birthday, Riley decided to do some traveling. She pleaded with her parents to let her go, and after a while, they gave in. She packed up her things and took Thump with her, riding on his back toward Fallarbor town. There, she got a few supplies, like pokeballs, potions and such, then headed off into the ashy forest that bordered the town. As she made her way through, she spotted a group of Spinda, staggering around in the grass. She'd never seen this type of Pokemon before. Curious, she approached the group, holding out a handful of Pokemon food. They seemed wary, but one of the Spinda cubs was brave enough to come foreword and eat right out of her hand.
For a good hour or two, Riley stayed there and played with the Spinda, who had warmed up to her after the first Spinda had eaten the food. She fed them and held them, and soon grew fond of the swirly-eyed Pokemon. When she finally decided to leave, the ash in the air bothering her throat a bit, the Spinda that first ate her food followed her through the woods. It didn't leave her alone, even when they finally made it out of the trees. There, she turned around, smiled, and held out her hand, asking the Pokemon if it wanted to come with her. With a nod of its head, the Spinda hugged onto her leg. From then on, the two of them were close companions. She named the cub 'Patch'.
For a year, Riley, Patch and Thump traveled around the Hoenn region. She didn't catch any Pokemon, but instead would spend a lot of times in various Pokemon habitats. There, she studied the Pokemon, learning their likes and dislikes, and coming up with better ways to raise all kinds of Pokemon, and prepare foods that a variety of Pokemon would enjoy. Throughout her travels, she grew fond of Normal-type Pokemon. Though they were classified as 'Normal', they were the ones with the most varied diet. She learned a lot of studying them, as long as every other type of Pokemon.
Upon returning home, Riley spent two more years on the ranch. With her new knowledge, the Pokemon on the ranch were kept healthy and happy, and the fame of the ranch spread to other regions. Professor Birch was a family friend and a customer of the ranch, and would often come and visit the McCay family. Recently when he came to visit, he told the family of a new region that had been discovered, and was in need of good Pokemon Breeders to help improve the population there. Riley instantly decided to go, her passion for Breeding making it feel like it was her duty to. With her parents approval, Riley headed down to the docks, taking Patch with her, and boarded the first ship to the new region.....Leave Out All The Rest
